Mrs. Velma K. Anthony, age 92 of Boligee, Alabama passed February 23, 2008 at Perry County Nursing Home, Marion, Alabama. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at the Little Zion Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama. Rev. Willie C. Carter officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Sharlene French, Mistress of Order. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements. She was born to the parentage of the late Charlie & Bessie Underwood Knight of Boligee, Alabama. She was a dedicated member of the Greater Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Meridian, Mississipppi. After relocating to Boligee, she accepted Christ as her personal saviour and joined Little Zion Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama. She was employed for mnay years at Weidman's Restaurant, Meridian, Mississippi. Her husband, Porter Anthony, two daughters, Bessie A. Carter and Lillie Mae Patton; two brothers, Samuel Knight and Ruffin Knight, one grandson, James Earl Patton, Jr. and one sister, Lucy Knight, all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, James (Charlene) Porter Anthony, Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Rachel (Robert) Durr, Meridian, MS and Alice Anthony of Long Beach, NY; two sons-in-lw, Henry T. 9Helen) Carter of Boligee, AL and James Earl (Lillie) Patton, Sr. of Meridian, MS. 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
