Ruth Rhoden-Jones, entered into eternal Rest February 9, 2009 at the age of 93 in Akron, Ohio. She was a member of the Peace Baptist Church. Born in Coatopa, Alabama, relocated to Bessemer, Alabama and then relocated to Akron, Ohio. While Ruth had little formal education herself, she worked hard and encouraged a strong educational foundation for her children and grandchildren. She was a disciplinarian who believed that children and grandchildren. She was a disciplinarian who believed that children should know their place and respect their elders. Ruth was affectionately called Nanny by her 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and other family and close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Marie (Clyde) Thornton; sons, Charles R. Cunningham and Willie Rhoden of Akron, Ohio, Albert (Sondra) Rhoden of Barberton, Ohio (President of Rhoden Funeral Home-Akron & Canton, OHio) and Melvin (Eleanore) Rhoden of Falls Church, VA; son-in-law, Frederick C. Williams and daughter-in-law, Ruby Faye Rhhoden, both of Akron, extended family, Jimmy (Barbara) Richardson, Denise (Emmitt) Mathis, Celeste (Gregory) Williams, all of Akron, Ohio and Verdie Richardson of Connecticut.
