Mrs. Ollie (Jenett) Givhan, daughter of John and Jennie B. Newton was born October 28, 1949 in Forkland, Alabama. She joined Springhill Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Springhill Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama. Rev. Willis Gulley will officiate. Interment will follow in Inge Family Cemetery, Boligee, Alabama. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements. The remains will repose at the church on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 Noon. In 1966, Ollie moved to Brooklyn, New York and began a career with the New York Telephone Company until her retirement in 1996. Ollie met her husband, Hosea Givan in New York. They were blessed with two sons, Clyde Miller and abdulla Smith. They relocated to Loganville, Georgia in 2004 and joined Unity of Faith Christian Ministeries. She was a member of the New York Tri-State Chapter of the Alabama Greene County Civic & Social Club. Survivors include a loving husband, Hosea Givan, two sons, Clyde Miller and Abdulla Givan; four sisters, Minnie (Henry) Evans of PA, Rose Isaac-Cook of GA, Dorothy Moore and Mamie Newton of AL; two brothers, Curtis Newton of AL and Willie Parker of IL; one dear aunt, Mary Anthony of Boligee, AL; two goddaughters, Cotasha Scott and Aminah Scott; one godson, Brandon Washington; nine nieces, eleven nephews. Her husband family, especially son, Dr. Gerald Givan and her church family will also cherish her memory. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Roosevelt (Bud) Isaac.
