Mr. Mickey Andrew Simmons, age 52 of 2328 County Road 57, Demopolis, Alabama entered into eternal rest September 3, 2012 in Murfreeboro, Tennessee. Homegoing Services Celebrating "This Beautiful Warrior" were held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smalls Memorial AME Zion Church Jefferson, Alabama. Rev. Montae Maddox of Montgomery, Alabama officiated. Interment followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery Hwy 43 South Demopolis, Alabama. He had a unique bond with his brother Derrick Simmons, Sr. who preceded him in death. Also a brother Melvin J.T. Simmons and sister Annie Pearl Brown; grandparents, Cleveland Marshall and Lillie "Sweet Simmons" and Sam and Lela Phillips preceded him in death. Mickey also carried deep love for his on Tirek and after uniting in marriage to Lessie Besteder Simmons, a baby girl was born and they named her Andrea. Mickey also was a father figure to nieces Erica Simmons, Marsheka Rowser and nephew Derrick Simmons, Jr.; special bond for nephew, Javier Lawson and Cedrick Simmons and niece Krystal Lawson and a great love for all his nieces, nephews. Mickey had a great love for everyone and was so helpful in helping anyone. He is the beloved son of Mrs. Ruthie Lee Simmons and Mr. J.T. Phillips of Demopolis, Alabama. Memories of love, laughter, good times, and bad times will be held dear by his loving daughter, Andrea Celeste Simmons of Birmingham, AL; Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama, "The Trusted Name In Funeral Service" entrusted with arrangements. Two adopted daughters, Monique Boose-Beard of Meridian, MS. and Amber Besteder of Demopolis, AL; four grandchildren, Tiquez Allen, Tirek Allen, Jr., Ayanna Allen of St. Roberts, Missouri and Kloe Gee of Demopolis, AL; fo devoted sisters, Tina Simmons of Huntsville, AL, Freda (Moses) Herlong and Roberta (Freddie) Lawson, and Bertha Lewis, all of Demopolis, AL; Pearl (Gilbert) Gray, Detroit, MI and Lela Phillips of Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Debra Simmons (very devoted) and Rosie Simmons; six rothers, Sam (Tracey) Simmons, Kent (Florine) Simmons and Eugene Phillips, all of Demopolis, AL, Carl Sanders of New York, Charles Simmons of Grand Rapids, MI, and John Thomas Phillips of Cleveland, OH; devoted cousin/brother, Bobby Lynch of Demopolis, AL; four aunts, Betty Lynch, New York, N.Y; Pearlie Simmons, Dover., DE, Melvena (Robert) Gilbert, Buffalo, NY and Lee Ethel Phillips of Demopolis, AL; 32 nieces, 13 nephews; a friend, Cynthia Geee Bryant of Demopolis, AL; many special neices, nephews, AND cousins.
