Mr. J. C. Thurman, age 84 of Jefferson , AL  entered into eternal rest May 23, 2016 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital, Demopolis,  AL. Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Thurman were held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. at First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson, AL. Rev. Edmond Charleston,pastor and officiant. Interment followed in Scott Memorial Cemetery, Jefferson, Alabama. Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Ceola Thurman; eight children, Shirley Porter, Zelma (Lee) Ware of Cleveland, OH, Mamie (Henry) Weatherspoon of Pensaukin, NJ, Joyce Thurman, Evone Thurman, both of Cleveland, OH, Ernest(Mary) Allen of Grand Rapids, MI, Bobby (Betty) Harris of California and Son (Nephew), Ernest Thurman of Jefferson, AL; three grandchildren whom he raised as his own, Jamal and Terry Thurman of Cleveland, OH and Sharon Weatherspoon of NJ; sisters, Jessie Congress and Ruth Braxton of Jefferson, AL, Ceola Harris of North Carolina and Mary Edwards of Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Margaret Thurman of Avon Park, FL; two brothers-in-law, Sammie White and Levy Fuller of Bronx, NY; two special nieces, Ella Hall and Vera Congress; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
