Mr. Eli Birl of Demopolis, Alabama entered into eternal rest March 20, 2013 at his residence. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Baptist Church, Old Springhill Road, Demopolis, Alabama. Rev. DeAyrus Smith, Pastor. Rev. Cornelius Harris of Birmingham, Alabama officiated. Interment followed in Memorial Cemetery, Arcola Road, Demopolis, Alabama. He leaves to cherish his precious memories eight (8) children; Frank (Paulette) Birl of Toronto, Canada; Sylvester(Shirley)Birl Buffalo, NY and Gloria (James)Smothers of Long Island, N.Y.; Lester (Millie) Birl of Buffalo, N.Y., Gregory Birl of Demopolis, AL, Douglas (Shirley) Birl of Wetumpka, AL, Christopher (Tawanna) Birl of Pensacola, Florida and Bridget (Tony) Charles of Atlanta, GA; Nine (9) Stepchildren, Patrick Birl of Demopolis, AL, Jurie Ann Weems, Mary Ann "Moon" Warren of Patterson,New Jersey, Hattie Pearl Lewis, Ella (Mikeal) Neal, Harriet Phails (Seth) Lewis and Mary "Gibb" (Markwel)Boye, all of Detroit, MI;Carol Lewis of College Park,GA and Candy (Tommy) Fluker of Demopolis, AL; one very devoted friend and caregiver and mother to his daughter, Juritta Lewis of Demopolis, AL; three devoted grandchildren and caregivers, Robert and Kandice Bryson of Demopolis, AL and Taylor Charles of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Mary Ethel (Jessie) Barber of Birmingham, AL, Dorothy Jones and Lou Ella (Henry) Bingham, all of Norcross, GA; three brothers, Jimmie (Mary) Birl of Demopolis, AL, Heron (Ophelia) Birl and Willie Lee Birl of Chicago, IL; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. A very special thanks to Minister Deborah Howard, Pastor DeAyrus Smith, Musician Tommy Reese, Demopolis Police Department and to our many friends for the outpour of love and support. Thanks Chris and your staff for the Excellent Care and providing the beautiful care to Eli. It was a everlasting picture of beautiful work that we will never forget. You made our burdens lighter.
