Mrs. Dora Matthews, age 93 of Coatopa, Alabama passed November 16, 2007 at Riley Memorial Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi. Funeral Services were held Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:00 p.m. at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Coatopa, Alabama. Rev. Albert Murdock is the pastor. Rev. Terry Gosa, pastor of Eastern Star Baptist Church, Demopolis, Alabama officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements. She served as a faithful member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Her husband Jeff Matthews preceded her in death. Her duties in the church included Assistant Secretary, Women Misssionary Union President, Women Missionary Union President, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Member of Lucille Pridge Chapter #727 O.E.S. and Heroines of Jericho Court #66. Survivor include three loving and devoted daughters, Mattie Clark of Las Vegas, NV, Erma (Thomas) Moore of St. Louis, MO. and Ossie (David) Dykes of Coatopa, AL; two loving and devoted sons, Raymond (Nellie) Matthews and Arthur (Mildred) Matthews of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Ruth Jones of Akron, OH; five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; devoted caretaker, Mrs. Emma Clark of Coatopa, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous relatives and friends.
