Mr. Dion Cordele Hurns, age 21 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a former native of Demopolis, Alabama Alabama passed February 16, 2012 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Funeral Services were held Saturday February 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eastern Star Baptist Church, Third Avenue & Arcola Road, Demopolis, Alabama. Pastor Terry Gosa, Interment followed in Mt. He is the beloved son of Ms. Zelda Hurns of Tuscaloosa & Deon (Cynthia) Pritchett of Demopolis, AL; grandson of Mr. Frank Hurns and Mrs. Emma Pritchett of Demopolis, AL., and the beloved great grandson of Mrs. Annie M. Mullen of Demopolis, AL., and a host of devoted siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends who cherished him dearly. Dion graduated from Bryant High School, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2009. In the same year, Dion pursued his dreams of becoming a Computer Electrical Engineer and received his degree from ITT Technical School, Helena, Alabama with a degree in 2009 in Computer Electrical Engineering Techonolgy (CEET). In loving memory of Dion we ask you keep his memory alive by donating to the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tuscaloosa, Alabama to help those patients with Sickle Cell Anemia and to further research and donation to the Sickle Cell Society for medical expenses for those affected with this disease. Also remember when there is a Sickle Cell Drive in your community, please go and have your self tested for HLA Typing (finger tip of blood) so in the future you can serve as a donor if someone in your family or your community is affected with this dreadful disease which affects mainly African-Americans.
