Colonel (Retired) Essie L. Rowser of Decatur, Georgia, native of Demopolis,Alabama entered into eternal rest peacefully at her residence in Decatur, Georgia on March 22, 2011. Funeral Service with Full Military Honors were held Monday, March 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Evening Star Baptist Church, Gallion, Alabama (Hale County). Pastor Floyd James will officiated. Interment with full Military Honors from Ft. Ruckers, Alabama will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will follow in Evening Star Church Cemetery, Gallion, Alabama. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors entrusted with arrangements. She was born to the late David & Bessie Rowser in Gallion, Alabma. She was the second of three children. Essie confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Evening Star Baptist Church, Gallion, Alabama. She received her high school diploma from U.S. Jones High School, Demopolis, Alabama, her B.S. Degree in Nursing from Grady Nursing School, Atlanta, Georgia and her Master's Degree in North Carolina. Essie worked in adminstration with the state of Georgia for thirty-three (33) years. During that time, she joined the U.S. Army Reserve for twenty years where she retired as the rank of Colonel and starting a business in Parliamentary. Essie was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a very loving and devoted sister, Thelma Rowser of Demopolis, AL; a brother, Bishop James Johnson of Waynesboro, MS; nieces, Audrey Johnson, Maryln Johnson, Felecia (Peter) Tursic, Renaldo (Orlando) Nelson, Benita & Arnita Johnson; nephews, Christopher Johnson, Lorenzo (Karen) Johnson, David (Chris) Rowser; two aunts, Beatrice (Armstead) Hertz and Dorothy (Daniel) Baldwin; God daughters, Donna (Anthony) Dallas; devoted friend, Hilda Holt and a special friend, Veronica Hudson; host of great nieces, great, nephews, devoted cousins and numerous friends. She served faithfully in uplifting the Lord by Holding different and she loved her church, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Decatur, Georgia.
