Mrs. Anita Compton Wilburn , age 90, of Demopolis, Alabama entered into eternal rest  peacefully June 9, 2026 at her residence.

Graveside services for Mrs. Anita Compton Wilburn were held Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from Jefferson Cemetery  (Jefferson Road) Jefferson, Alabama.

Mrs. Wilburn was the daughter of the late Clifford Compton and Carolyn Strother Compton.

She spent her life surrounded by her many friends and family. She was a lifelong member of the Jefferson Methodist church. The last 20 years or so she was a minister and preached in various Methodist churches in Perry, Choctaw and Hale counties in Alabama. Her sermons were heart-felt and her words blessed the many people who came to listen to her speak.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband John Clarke Wilburn, her son John Clarke Wilburn Jr., her brothers David Compton, Jack Compton and Clifford Compton and sisters Dorothy Dawson, Mary Kathryn Bryars.

She is survived by husband Billy Drake, a sister Nancy Dunn (Frank), daughters Dorothy "Kay" Self (Billy) and Cynthia Williams (Ken), grandchildren Liza Terry (Mike), John L. Decker "Jay", John Clarke Wilburn III (Catalina), Kenneth "Lee" Williams (Shelby), Laura Self (Andrew), and Blaine Self (Rebecca) and great grandchildren Mason Terry, Addison Terry, Weston Williams, Kilynn Williams, and Kennedy Smith.
