Dorothy Ann Compton

Mrs. Dorothy A. Compton, age 72 of Jefferson, Alabama passed January 16, 2008 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital, Mobile, Alabama. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson, Alabama. Rev. Edmond Charleston will officiate. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Alabama. The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 A.M. Public viewing will be held Friday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born to the parentage of the late Richard Harris, Sr. and Henrietta Bestedar in Jefferson, Alabama. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Baptist Church, Flatwood, Alabama. She later united with the First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson, Alabama where she was a choir member, usher board, and a member of Doris Gospel Chorus. She entered into eternal rest January 16, 2008 at the Mobile Infirmary Hospital, Mobile, Alabama. Her husband, Thomas Compton preceded her in death. Survivors include three loving children, Bernedia B. Brown and husband Oscar Brown of Mobile, AL, Lillie Compton White of Rockford, IL and Sammie Compton and wife Mary Compton of New York. A host of 6 grandchildren, host of greatgrandchildren. Two siblings, Willie Harris and Bettie Jean Taylor preceded her in death. Survivors include six silbings, Richard (Corrie) Harris of Gallion, AL, Peter and Bettie Harris of Mobile, AL, Levi (Hattie) Harris of Tuscaloosa, AL, James Harris of Columbus, GA and Sallie Mae (Henry) Jones of Columbus, GA; sister-in-law, Ida Mae Johnson of Gallion, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
